Jason Skelton joined the Purdue University philosophy graduate program in August 2022. The move returned Jason to his alma mater following 15-plus years working in multiple industries: six years working in political arena for the State of Florida, 10 years working in sports journalism and media production, eight years working in health and fitness, and various other corporate and entrepreneurial ventures. Jason earned his first Bachelors of Arts degree in May 2004 from Purdue in African American Studies with a minor in psychology. He earned his second Bachelors of Arts degree in December 2021 in Philosophy. He then moved up to the graduate program and is now a doctoral candidate. Jason has philosophical interests in the technology of the body, existentialism, and ethics. His dissertation interests include a more elaborate focus on conatus, Spinoza/Deleuze/Nietzsche’s power, intensity, and affectivity, and their connection with Leonard Harris’s Philosophy Born of Struggle.
Jason’s personal interests consist of nothing adulting. Basketball, video games, card and other games, binge watching imaginative and dystopian movies/shows, armchair philosophizing at a lounge/bar, hanging out with friends, and even trying to make the impossible possible are what keeps youthful and alive.
