Jamin Asay

Jamin Asay is Professor and Interim Head of Philosophy. Prior to joining the Purdue faculty, he was Chairperson in Philosophy at the University of Hong Kong. He previously taught at Lingnan University in Hong Kong, after receiving his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He holds an M.A. from Northern Illinois University and a B.A. from Whitman College.

Jamin works in the areas of metaphysics, philosophy of language, and philosophy of science, with particular interest in the nature of truth and its connection to other areas of philosophy. He is currently researching the role of truth in political speech, the viability of conceptual engineering as a research program, and contemporary accounts of truth that attempt to downplay its importance in our cognitive architecture.
