Gwénaël Jouin
- Visiting Assistant Professor // Cornerstone
Gwénaël Jouin graduated with a B.A and M.A. from Sorbonne University (Paris IV) before joining Purdue University, where he earned a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature in May 2025. His dissertation inaugurates a well-grounded theory of the popular yet unsatisfactorily defined genre of the novel. Focusing on the English, French, and Spanish literary traditions from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century, he especially explores how the novel is a set of epistemological strategies that can help audiences understand the nature of truth and, in turn, how the concept of truth can guide scholars in analyzing the theoretically challenging genre of the novel."
