Félicia Barrett

Félicia Barrett is a Lecturer in Visual Communication Design in the Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Design, Art, and Performance at Purdue University. Before joining the faculty at Purdue, Félicia completed her MFA in Visual Communication Design, where her thesis, Good Intentions, examined visual communication design as a research framework for engaging with complex topics, specifically sustainability, earning the College of Liberal Arts Distinguished Master's Creative Work Award. She also holds a BA in Visual Communication Design from Purdue University.

Barrett teaches across the visual communication design curriculum, and her teaching integrates conceptual development with technical proficiency through project-based learning. Prior to returning to the world of academia, Félicia spent eight years in professional design practice, working in branding, packaging, and interactive media. She draws on this industry background to mentor students through portfolio development, professional readiness, and career planning.

Her research explores the intersections of design, sustainability, and emerging technologies. Her creative and professional work has been recognized by Graphis Inc., Indigo Design Awards, and the International Visual Literacy Association. Other recognition includes awards for design in national and international design competitions and exhibitions.
