Biography:

Claire Eggerman is a doctoral student in the Brian Lamb School of Communication at Purdue University. Her primary areas of study include interpersonal and Intergroup communication with minors in organizational communication and methods. Claire earned her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Communications and her Master of Science in Agriculture at Missouri State University. While at Missouri State University, Claire worked for the Assistant Secretary of Agriculture for the United States Department of Agriculture in the Office of Rural Development, sparking an interest in rural and agricultural support.

Research and Teaching:

Claire’s research interests include identity, social support, and stigma communication in rural and agricultural contexts. She is particularly interested in how the interactions of those within rural and agricultural communities influence each other's identity and impact feelings of community support. One of Claire’s recent projects, Claire is primarily a quantitative researcher utilizing survey designs, but she has experience conducting qualitative research through interview methods.

Outside of research, Claire is passionate about teaching and helping students achieve their goals. Her teaching experience includes Introduction to Organizational Communication, Fundamentals of Speech Communication, Writing in the Applied Sciences, and Critical Perspectives of Communication. Claire also spent time as a consultant in the Purdue Presentation Center assisting students with their presentation and communication needs. After graduation, Claire hopes to continue teaching as a faculty member.
