An award-winning professor and erstwhile factory worker, Josh A. Brewer has taught writing and literature at the Universities of Miami, South Carolina, Purdue, Tennessee State, Ivy Tech, and Aquinas College. He has published a book, Writers Resist: Hoosier Writers Unite (2017), and also his first collection of poems, When is a Will (2022). His work appears in Harvard Review, Poetry Quarterly, Southeast Review, Natural Bridge, RHINO, Common Ground Review, Booth, Yemassee, Sargasso, a publication of the Modern Language Association (and elsewhere). A proud generalist, his research ranges widely: from Caribbean literature to AI pedagogy; from poetry and poetics to the British slave trade and abolitionist movement; from modern and contemporary literature to black British writers of the romantic era. Brewer has recently completed a graduate certificate in Learning Design from Harvard University.
