Social and Cultural Dimensions of Health

Agata Pacho is a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology. She specializes in the social and cultural dimensions of health, with a focus on marginalized communities, including people living with HIV, racialized minority women, and those affected by poverty. Her doctoral research at Goldsmiths, University of London, explored how the legacy of the HIV/AIDS epidemic shapes contemporary healthcare practices. At the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, she worked in an independent research team advising the UK Government on health and social care policy in areas including antimicrobial resistance, self-care, xenotransplantation, and the integration of health services. She also led initiatives to embed meaningful public involvement and co-production in research.
