Korean Scholarships Program at Purdue
Supporting academic excellence and cultural engagement in Korean studies
The Korean Scholarship Program at Purdue offers financial support and leadership opportunities to undergraduate students who demonstrate academic commitment and active participation in the Korean program. This initiative is made possible through the support of the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS), under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea, and is administered by the Purdue Interdisciplinary Center for Korean Studies (PICKS).
PICKS Korean Merit Scholarship
Supporting academic excellence and cultural engagement in Korean studies.
Scholarship Details
- Amount: $1,000
- Recipents: Up to 10 students
Who Should Apply?
The scholarship is open to degree-seeking undergraduate students at Purdue University who meet the following criteria:
- Enrolled in at least one Korean language or content course during the semester of application
- Demonstrate active interest and involvement in Korean studies
- Students who have declared the Korean minor will be given priority consideration
Application Timeline:
Fall 2025: October 1 (Wednesday) – October 25 (Wednesday), by 11:59pm
Spring 2026: January 12 (Monday) - January 30 (Friday), by 11:59pm
How to apply:
Complet the online application form and upload the following:
Unofficial transcript (PDF)
- Current semester course schedule (PDF)
- (Optional) Supporting documents such as: TOPIK test scores, participation in Korean speech contests, internship or volunteer work related to Korea, etc.
- Student Ambassador Role
Scholarship recipients will be named Student Ambassadors for the Korean program. In this role, they are expected to:
Support program events and outreach activities that promote Korean language and culture on campus - Maintain active involvement in the Korean program by continuing to take Korean language or content courses
- Contribute to community-building efforts through peer engagement and promotional initiatives
PICKS Study Abroad in Korean Scholarship
Supports any study abroad program in Korea, including Maymester and academic year programs. Priority given to Korean minors. Open to undergraduate students from all colleges at Purdue West Lafayette.

- Amount: $1,000
- Recipents: Up to 10 students
Who Should Apply?
The scholarship is open to degree-seeking undergraduate students from all colleges at Purdue West Lafayette who meet the following criteria:
- Accepted in any study abroad program in Korea, including Maymester and academic year program
- Students who have declared the Korean minor will be given priority consideration
Application Timeline
Spring 2026:
- Student application due: November 14, 2025
- Award notifications: December 1, 2025
Summer 2026
- Student application due: February 13, 2026
- Award notifications: March 2, 2026
