Industry and Civil Society Engagement

GRAIL collaborates widely with academic institutions, nonprofits, industry groups, and funders to advance responsible AI. We work through workshops, conferences, consultations, and long-term partnerships, creating spaces where diverse actors can engage with pressing questions of AI governance.

Highlights of Industry Collaboration

  • Industry exposure through presentations at Google DC HQ, Microsoft-Purdue Industry Day, Purdue-Google AI Summit
  • Secured grant funding from the National Institute of Justice ($972k total, with one quarter coming to Purdue) and Google ($5k), and five additional grant proposals in Spring 2024 (Cisco, NSF, Arnold Ventures, IES) and several others underway totalling 10M+
  • Student recognition through the Responsible AI Institute (RAII) Fellowship, with GRAIL students selected as fellows
  • Partnership with AI 2030 to build educational content on responsible AI
