SCLA 10100 Transformative Texts, Critical Thinking & Communication I: Antiquity to Modernity
This course is dedicated to developing and enhancing the ability of students to write in a variety of genres, advancing their understanding of the importance of rhetorical situations and choices; analyzing and constructing arguments; gathering and evaluating sources; as well as learning how to read and evaluate print and visual media. This course places an emphasis on engaged learning through class discussion, debate, and peer review. It introduces students to foundational texts from antiquity to the birth of the modern era. Its goal is to create life-long learners, open to the world, and sensitive to other points of view.

This course is dedicated to developing and enhancing the ability of students to convey information through oral presentations, advancing their understanding of the importance of rhetorical situations and choices; analyzing and constructing presentations for different audiences; gathering and evaluating sources for presentations and using visual aids effectively. This course places an emphasis on engaged learning through class discussion, debate, and peer review. It introduces students to foundational texts from the modern era. Its goal is to create life-long learners, open to the world, and sensitive to other points of view.

SCLA 20000 Constitutional Law
In this interdisciplinary course, students read case law to understand legal reasoning and constitutional doctrines and identify major constitutional conflicts. It explores how the forces of technology, economics, politics, scientific development, and medicine transform constitutional law.

SCLA 30000 Liberal Arts Influentials
As a lecture/discussion course, Liberal Arts Influentials features speakers from a diverse range of Liberal Arts majors and introduces students to the myriad career opportunities available to Liberal Arts graduates. Speakers represent careers in the arts, media, industry, politics and more. Students are encouraged to initiate dialogue with working professionals. Only students enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts may register for GS 30000: LA Influentials.

SCLA 49100D CLA Study Abroad Re-entry Seminar
An international learning experience can have a substantial impact on your life, but also risks being compartmentalized and undeveloped. The aim of this course is to help students process and understand their study abroad experiences in light of current literature on models of culture, ideas about global citizenship, intercultural communication and development. With a deeper understanding of their experience, they will be able to better utilize and market their experiences in light of their personal, academic, and career goals.
