The Italian program offers language (levels I-VI), literature, film, and culture courses. It offers an interdisciplinary major in Italian Studies as part of the IDIS Program (Director, Ben Lawton), in conjunction with courses from the School of Languages and Cultures, Visual and Performing Arts, and History. The School of Languages and Cultures also offers a minor in Italian. The section is comprised of two professors, a continuing lecturer, and several wonderful teaching assistants.

In 1995 the Italian section established a summer program in Florence, Italy in collaboration with Arizona State University and Dominican University.
