B.A. 1997

I was born an raised in Lafayette, IN.  I attended Lafayette Jefferson High School and Purdue.  In college I double-majored in Interdisciplinary Film and Telecommunications with a minor in English.  I really knew no one in the business and after graduation I was unemployed in my area of study for one year. I kept applying to positions in Chicago and finally got hired at a place called Cinema Video / Network Century, Inc.  I started here as a post assistant.  Later I moved up to assistant editor.  I also ran the gamut of production positions as well: script supervisor, make-up, and craft service.  So that was great experience.  I then got hired at Post Effects as an assistant editor and got to work under Emmy award winning editors.  At this job I was able to become much more polished.  If you work at a place like Post Effects you can figure out any other place and have a much lower learning curve coming in on the equipment at another place.

Currently I am at Harpo Studios working on the Oprah Winfrey Show as a freelancer in the editorial department.  The editorial staff just received Emmys for the 2004-2005 season.  In addition to the work I do at Harpo I have started my own corporation and copyrighted treatments for up to 15 shows which I plan on producing. I am also a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
