Bob has been involved in film sound preservation and restoration since 1990 when he joined Chace Productions, a well-known sound preservation and restoration industry.  Recent company projects include: West Side Story, Lawrence of Arabia, Gone with the Wind, The Wizard of Oz and Patton.

A member of the Association of Moving Image Archivists, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, the Association of Recorded Sound Collections, and the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, Bob has served on the National Film Preservation Board Advisory Task Force, the Library of Congress panel for the State of American Television and Video Preservation and the National Recorded Sound Preservation Plan.   He has spoken on film sound preservation, restoration and remastering at numerous conferences around the world.

Prior to joining Chace, Bob was the Manager of Technical Operations at Warner Hollywood Studios and an award winning documentary/industrial filmmaker in Chicago, Illinois. 

Bob is the President of the Board of Directors for The Rick Chace Foundation. Established in 2002 the Foundation’s mission is, “to break the silence on the history art, and technology of motion picture sound.”  The foundation has produced part one of the series, A Century of Sound: The History of Sound in Motion Pictures with the UCLA Film and Television Archive and funds a scholarship award to advanced degree students in the field of motion picture archiving.
