Paul Brockman

Director of Manuscript and Visual Collections, Indiana Historical Society, Indianapolis, IN

Paul oversees the management and care of the Society’s 7,000 plus manuscript collections and 2 million photographs that are used by academic, professional and general researchers. 

He completed his master’s degree in August 1978 and began working for the Indiana Historical
Society as a research assistant the following month. He co-authored three books issued by the
Society: Indiana Newspaper BibliographyIndiana: A New Historical Guide; and A Guide to
Manuscript Collections at the Indiana Historical Society and the Indiana State Library 
and has
contributed several articles to the Society’s popular history magazine, Traces.

Paul joined the CLA Alumni Board in 2006. He is also on the board for the Society of Indiana
Archivists and was on the board of the Indiana German Heritage Society for over 20 years where he served as editor of the organization’s newsletter for most of that time. His son, Ben, is a 2008 CLA graduate.
