“Editing is not just the process of making yourself sound bigger”

What is your dream job?

I really enjoy graphic design, and the editing and refining process, and at the same time making everything user-friendly. So a job that would combine those skills. I want to be someone who designs things and at the same time is working with people to make things user-friendly and beautiful. It's important to have that human element that a lot of people don't think goes into design and everyday products.

What is your favorite Purdue tradition?

It’s not really a tradition at all, but I have really enjoyed the talks that Convocations has been doing! They're something that always sound really cool, and make me excited. Last year they had Brian Greene come in and talk and it was so cool!

Where’s your favorite place to eat on campus?

Hahaha here, at Greyhouse! I also really like the sushi place in the Union, and Maje sushi too! You know the Greek place down here? SO. GOOD.

Who would play you in a movie?

That’s so difficult! I mean, they would have to have the hair, they'd have to get it right! Initially, I would say Scarlett Johansson with the red curly hair, but at the same time I know she doesn't have the right face. Maybe Liv Tyler - that'd be cool - or J Law, she has the right cheek bones and she’s awesome. She’s just about as much of a dork as I am.

What is the best experience you've had lately?

Okay, so this one time, I went down to Maje and bought a box of sushi. I brought it back to Greyhouse, and I don’t remember what I ordered, but it was delicious. I had one of the larger tables all to myself, and I was just sitting there eating sushi and doing homework, looking hipster as hell, and I thought, “This is what dreams are made of.”

What makes your resume stand out?

I think the overwhelming amount of editorial experience, especially for someone my age. I was a yearbook photo editor for five years, I was also the editor for a literary magazine and a club newspaper. I really enjoy editing student papers and tutoring people.
