Taylor Davis joins Purdue as an assistant professor in the Department of Philosophy, after earning a B.Sc. in psychology from the University of Georgia, an M.A. in philosophy from Tufts University, and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Davis’s research focuses on the philosophy of psychology and cognitive science, and more specifically on the role of natural selection (in both genetic evolution and cultural evolution) in structuring human thought and behavior. As a member of the Building Sustainable Communities hiring cluster—an initiative advanced by Purdue’s Center for the Environment—he is currently investigating the psychology of social norms, and the role of norm psychology in establishing and maintaining stable forms of cooperative behavior within communities.
