Biography:

Zachary Isaacs is a PhD candidate in the Lamb School studying interpersonal and political communication. Zachary’s research focuses on deviant political behavior such as protests and domestic terrorism as well as political humor. Zachary received his B.A. in political science and communication from Aquinas College (2019) and his M.A. from Purdue University (2021).

Research and Teaching:

Zachary has been the instructor of record for COM 114 (Introduction to Presentational Speaking), COM 212 (Interpersonal Communication), COM 320 (Small Group Communication), and COM 204 (Critical Perspectives on Communication). He has also been a teaching assistant for COM 204, COM 318 (Principles of Persuasion), and COM 304 (Quantitative Research Methods). In 2021, Zachary won the Lamb School’s Harlan Award for excellence in teaching by an M.A. student. Additionally, Zachary was Purdue University’s M.A representative for the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools 2021 teaching competition.

Zachary is currently working on his dissertation which is about how politicians use humor to persuade their constituents. In addition to his dissertation, Zachary researches topics related to deviant political behavior such as domestic terrorism and protests. Zachary has published articles in American Behavioral Scientist (January 6th), Public Relations Inquiry (domestic terrorism), and The Year in C-SPAN Archives Research (gender schema).
