Jennifer Garrett

Assistant Deputy Secretary, Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services

Jennifer Garrett was appointed State of Wisconsin Assistant Deputy Secretary of the Department of Safety and Professional Services in August 2022. She serves as the chief of staff for the Secretary, managing external affairs for the agency including media, legislative, and external stakeholders. Additionally, s​he serves as the liaison with the governor's staff and other agencies. Before that, she served as director of public affairs. She joined the agency in July 2019 as communications director.

Jennifer has worked in communications for more than two decades and has experience in print, web, radio and television. She particularly enjoys the opportunity to help shape how people think and talk about the issues facing society and the government’s role in our lives.

While on campus, Jennifer was active with Mortar Board and the Panhellenic Council. She is a native of Munster, Indiana, and graduated from Munster High School. Jennifer received a JD degree from Indiana University-Bloomington. Although she has lived in Wisconsin for nearly 20 years, Indiana is still home.
