A. 12 Hours Foundational Courses

  • AMST 20100
  • AMST 30100
  • AMST 49000 (6 hours) or 1 additional AMST 30100 and one additional course from Requirement B. AMST 20100 and 30100 are prerequisites.

B. 18 Hours Courses from Pre-Approved List of Electives

  • 9 Hours in Declared Area of Concentration
  • 9 Hours Free Electives from Approved List
  • No more than three CLA Core Curriculum courses may be used toward Requirement B unless approved by the AMST Director of Undergraduate Studies. All 500-level and variable title/credit courses require the permission of the faculty offering the course and the AMST Director of Undegraduate Studies before they can be applied to the American Studies major. At least twelve credit hours must be at the 300-level or above.
