David Braun

David Braun is a Research Programmer in the Rosen Center for Advanced Computing, a department of Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP). Since December of 2008 he is also the Interim Director of the Envision Center for Data Perceptualization (http://www.envision.purdue.edu).

David has 13 years of industry experience as programmer. This experience is based on the development of engineering simulation tools, complex mission critical manufacturing middleware, and embedded system. David has worked as a system architect and lead software developer, creating systems that fit current requirements and planned growth for the science, engineering and business sectors.

In 2007, as part of the ETB course Envision Art 01: the responsive screen, David developed a custom software interface that allowed the Arduino USB interface board to communicated with VRjuggler and to be seamlessly integrated into the Envision Center’s CAVE/Flex system. It allowed students to effectively prototype custom physical interfaces and to connect them easily to high-end visualization environments.
