Fall 2007
This fall was full of wonderful creative writing events. In September, Purdue Libraries and the Purdue Black Cultural Center sponsored a nonfiction reading by Ishmael Beah, and the MFA and Jewish Studies Programs hosted fiction writer Kate Bernheimer and poet Norman Finkelstein. October was Experience Liberal Arts month, and Creative Writing sponsored two of the major events: a poetry reading by Adam Zagajewski and a colloquium, lecture and reading by Joyce Carol Oates. November featured the Writers Harvest benefit reading with MFA faculty members and special guest Donald Bain and a Purdue Black Cultural Center-sponsored poetry reading by Sterling Plumpp. Also, in November the Purdue Oncological Sciences Center and Department of English hosted a colloquium that included a creative nonfiction reading and lecture by Terry Tempest Williams, a poetry reading by Sue Ellen Thompson and a fiction reading and workshop with Sandi Wisenberg.
