CLA Global Internships

CLA Global Internship programs allow students to live, learn, and work in another culture for a month while earning Purdue credit. All programs include a pre-session at Purdue followed by time working and taking classes in-country.

Students earn 9 credit hours. Class offerings vary but most often include language and culture classes. Current internship locations include Peru and South Korea. 


Lima Internship and Study Abroad 

Knowledge of Spanish level 10100 is a requirement, and higher levels are welcomed. You will have the opportunity to complete up to nine credit hours in Spanish language, South American culture, and course credits for your internship. In addition to gaining on-the-job work experience and Purdue course credits, you will have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to visit Machu Picchu and explore other historic sites in Peru. Earn credit for IDIS 490: Global Internship, LALS 250: Latin American Culture, and Spanish Language.

Global Internship Program in Seoul, South Korea

The purpose of the study and internship experience is to introduce students to Korean society, culture, language, and professional practices in Seoul, South Korea. Participants are guaranteed an internship abroad with companies and organizations interested in working with Purdue students. The on-site course will include cultural excursions, guest lectures and workshops, whose speakers include academics and business leaders. Earn credit for IDIS 490: International Internship, IDIS 491: Korean Popular Culture, and IDIS 591: "Global" Society, Food & Culture.
