Diana Zulli received her master’s in communication studies from Texas State University, her Ph.D. in communication from the University of Utah, and a B.B.S. in speech communication from Hardin-Simmons University.

Her primary research interests are political communication, communication theory, digital technology, and crisis communication. In particular, she is interested in how digital technology and social media effect social and political processes; how political elites communicate strategically online and offline to influence public opinion; and how news media portray political elites and events.

Zulli’s work has been published in journals including Communication TheoryCritical Studies in Media CommunicationNew Media and SocietySocial Media + Society; InformationCommunication, & Society; and the International Journal of Communication, among others. Her research has earned top paper awards at the NCA, WSCA, and CSCA annual conferences.

Before completing her doctoral degree, Dr. Zulli worked as a public relations specialist for The Government Technology Research Alliance.
