Randy Earle has worked “behind the scenes” on hundreds of stage productions in the academic and professional worlds.  During his 38-year tenure in the Department of Television, Radio, Film, and Theatre at San Jose State University, he served as Technical Operations Supervisor for Morris Dailey Auditorium, Coordinator of the Theatre Arts Program, Head of the technical theatre area (which included curriculum development and teaching more than a dozen courses), designer of lighting and sound, and Professor of lighting and sound design.

While at San Jose State University, Randy formed Pantechnicon LLC, a consulting firm focused on the designing and building of performing arts facilities. Randy gained national and international recognition for his work in the United State Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT), an organization representing over 3,000 entertainment industry designers, technicians, consultants, manufacturers, and suppliers across the U.S., where he served as President, was elected a Fellow, and currently serves as Chair of Fellows. He was also a founding member of the Northern California Section of USITT.

Randy received the prestigious Joel E. Rubin Founders Award from USITT, recognizing outstanding and continued service to the Institute. In addition, he was awarded the State of California Governor’s Award for Employee Safety and was a three- time winner of the San Jose State University’s Meritorious Performance and Professional Promise Award. Randy lives in San Jose, California.
