Headshot of Uyen Ngo.

Hi there! my name is Uyen Ngo, and I am an international student at Purdue University. In fact, I’m a rising sophomore majoring in Communication and minoring in Film & Video at Purdue University in the College of Liberal Arts. With both my major and minor, I’m planning to be a professional in Public Relations or a content creator/influencer who can inspire many people from all generations in the future.

The community of the college is the main reason why I decided to pursue my education at the College of Liberal Arts. When I first came here, I barely knew anyone and people from this community helped me a lot in adapting to the new environment. Not to mention, they always encourage me to try new things and express my creativity in order to gain success. In fact, the faculty, staff and members always give me plenty of opportunities for research, internships, and classes to help me improve my knowledge and skills. Thanks to this community, I became more self-confident which helped me gain lots of achievements during my freshman year.

Besides being an ambassador for College of Liberal Arts, I’m involved in lots of extracurricular activities. In the beginning of my freshman year, I was part of a learning community in which I had an opportunity to get to know more about my professor, Dr. Joshua Boyd, and other friends who are also majoring in communication. I was also a part of and continue to be an upcoming president of  College of Liberal Arts International Student Committee to help all the international students who are majoring in liberal arts. Besides that, I’m currently working with Dr. Emily Buehler and her PhD candidate, Prince Adu Gyamfi, for a project about emotional communication this summer. Next semester, I’m excited to join Boiler Communication, an student-run agency to practice my professionalism in Public Relations.
