Attention all Film and Video alums, students, current and former faculty. 2024 is the 45th anniversary of having the first Film major offered at Purdue and the 25th anniversary of the Film and Video program. Come celebrate with us! A reunion gathering is being planned for Thursday April 25th

Film and Video at Purdue is a professionally-oriented program grounded in production, theory, aesthetics, history, culture, and criticism. Hands-on training provides students with the tools to analyze, interpret, and integrate foundational theories of storytelling. Students are encouraged to map out their own individualized, interdisciplinary program of study in both academic and practical contexts. Within the Film and Video major, students can focus their studies through seven optional concentrations: Cinema Studies, Cinematography, Directing, Editing, International Cinema, Live Production, and Screenwriting.
The Film and Video major offers flexibility, allowing students to choose the path that best fits their needs. Students can graduate in three years (Degree-in-3); they can double major with other disciplines (Degree+); and they can broaden their educational experiences through study abroad opportunities. The major provides students with unique collaborative opportunities to work with others in Theatre, English, Art & Design, Languages & Cultures, Music, Dance, Big Ten sports, and more. Film and Video majors have great opportunities for internships and even paid work experience throughout their time at Purdue!
