ROSETTA
Please join me in congratulating Purdue’s ROSETTA Initiative, a Purdue interdisciplinary team science project, which recently won a $1,000,000 National Science Foundation award to build an artificial intelligence-based framework for modeling complex urban constructions from a sparse number of remote sensing and field observations. The lead CLA faculty is Ian Lindsay, associate professor of anthropology, who conducts archaeological research on the origins of complex societies in Bronze Age South Caucasus.
ROSETTA, Remote Observation and Sensing Technologies and Techniques in Archaeo-Anthropology, is a research accelerator created and directed by Sorin Adam Matei, associate dean of research and graduate education. This initiative was founded to create innovative team science that blends the experiences, talents, and intellectual contributions of humanities and social science scholars to create new types of digital humanities projects. Rosetta conducts international work in Latin America, the Middle East, and Europe, as well as in the United States.
