Manjana Milkoreit

Please join me in congratulating Manjana Milkoreit, assistant professor of political science, on the publication of her book Mindmade Politics (MIT Press 2017), which takes an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the complex and contentious dynamics of global climate politics.

Manjana’s research integrates international relations and cognitive theory to study global climate change politics, especially the role of science in climate diplomacy. She currently focuses on institutional design questions related to the Paris Agreement and on the development of an innovative science-diplomacy engagement process about climate tipping points.

Manjana has published about moral norms in climate politics, the role of the emerging powers in the climate negotiations, and the political effects of popular culture, especially climate fiction literature. She has a forthcoming paper on “Pop-cultural Mobilization: Deploying Game of Thrones to Shift US Climate Politics,” and she recently contributed to a report by the Global Challenges Foundation: Global Governance for Global Citizens, asking “Who cares about Global Governance?”

Currently, she is leading and participating in two Mellon-funded, interdisciplinary research projects. She is also the PI on two projects funded by a College of Liberal Arts: an Exploratory Research in the Social Sciences grant and a Global Synergy Research grant.

Congratulations, Dr. Milkoreit!
