Marianne Boruch
Please join me in congratulating Marianne Boruch, professor of English, for her most recent collection, Eventually One Dreams the Real Thing (Copper Canyon Press), for being included in The New Yorker’s, “The Books We Loved in 2016.”
Eventually One Dreams the Real Thing is Marianne’s ninth collection of published poetry. Her other collections of poetry are, Cadaver, Speak and The Book of Hours , Grace, Fallen from; Poems New & Selected, A Stick that Breaks and Breaks and Moss Burning; Descendant and View from the Gazebo --and three books of essays on poetry, The Little Death of Self, In the Blue Pharmacy: Essays on Poetry and Other Transformations; and Poetry's Old Air, as well as a memoir about a 1971 hitchhiking trip, The Glimpse Traveler. Her poetry collection, The Book of Hours, received the Kingsley-Tufts Poetry Award in 2013.
Marianne’s work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Nation, The New York Review of Books, Hudson Review, FIELD, Narrative, The London Review of Books,the Yale Review, American Poetry Review, Poetry, and elsewhere. She has been awarded four Pushcart Prizes, two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and residencies at the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, the Rockefeller Foundation's Bellagio Center, The American Academy in Rome, and The Anderson Center in Red Wing, MN.
