T. Cole Jones

Please join me in congratulating T. Cole Jones, assistant professor in the Department of History who was appointed to the Advisory Council of Fort Ticonderoga. The council is made up of distinguished historians from across the United States. Cole's expertise and leadership in early American history resulted in his selection as a part of an effort to plan the building of a new, $40 million dollar major museum facility at Fort Ticonderoga in New York. Fort Ticonderoga Museum founders Stephen H. P. Pell and Sarah Thompson Gibbs Pell envisioned Fort Ticonderoga to be the finest military history museum in America. Cole's addition to the Advisory Council reflects the continued efforts to provide exemplary history education to future generations through the Fort's rich and turbulent history.

Last year, Cole completed a year-long, National Endowment for the Humanities fellowship at the New-York Historical Society. His book, Captives of Liberty: Prisoners of War and the Violence of the American Revolution, is under contract with the University of Pennsylvania Press. In addition to his current book project, Jones has published articles in the New England QuarterlyJournal of the Early Republic, and Common-Place. His research has been supported by the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation, the United States Army Center of Military History, and the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington.

Congratulations, Dr. Jones!
