Valerie Soe

My work deals with issues found in a society in transition from a predominantly white European culture, to one whose growing Latino and Asian population affects and influences everything, from the food we eat, the music we listen to, to the way we view the rest of the world.

Valerie Soe is a former AAWAA member and her work is featured in both the AAWAA and WoCA slide projects.

Diane Tani

My work is concerned with raising issues that have been concealed and integrated into our society. I questions the image and identity of Asian Americans, specifically, and the acceptance of these portrayals, generally.

Diane Tani is a former AAWAA member and her work is featured in both the AAWAA and WoCA slide projects.

My work evolves from issues which are important to me--such as ecology, culture and world conditions. These themes are often the foundation and cornerstone of my pieces. Paper and fabric are usually the mediums I employ to convey my thoughts; sheer beauty and creativity the impetus.

Anna X. L. Wong is an AAWAA member and her work is featured in the AAWAA slide project.

Flo Oy Wong

As an American artist of Chinese descent, I retrieve metaphors from my ancestral culture to aesthetically examine my sense of bifurcation. I seek transformation of family, cultural, and collective issues that are emotionally corrosive.

Flo Oy Wong is a founding member of AAWAA and was instrumental in the creation of the WoCA slide project. Her work is featured in both projects.
