Betty's Diner, The Musical
Music & Lyrics by Carrie Newcomer
Book by Carrie Newcomer & Richard K. Thomas
September 25 — October 10
Carole and Gordon Mallett Theatre
Directed by Robin McKee
Betty’s Diner might be one of those diners along US 231 or any of those roads that pass through small towns in the Midwest. It’s a place that’s been there forever, a place that feels like home, a place where they remember that you like your coffee black and your eggs over easy. But the new highway is opening up and business is slowing down. Miranda puts a For Sale sign up in the window and a stranger by the name of Gabriel wanders in, and that’s where our story begins….

As You Like It
By William Shakespeare
November 13 — 22
Nancy T. Hansen Theatre
Directed by Kristine Holtvedt
A light-hearted comedy, As You Like It depicts the perils of court versus the pleasure of the forest and the delights and deceptions of love. Unjustly deposed by his younger brother, the rightful duke retreats to the Forest of Arden and forms a utopia with his loyal followers while his daughter remains at court as a companion to her cousin. When forbidden romance enters their lives, the girls assume disguises and flee to the forest, where they encounter friendly outlaws and wise fools. As You Like It sparkles with wit and poetry in its celebration of love as a force for happiness and fulfillment.

Rated G — A romantic comedy suitable for audiences of all ages.

The Liar
By David Ives
February 19 — 28
Nancy T. Hansen Theatre
Directed by Amy Lynn Budd

Hours after arriving in Paris, the charismatic Dorante is smitten by a pair of comely young ladies and confounded by a case of mistaken identity. Not to worry, this scoundrel is handsome, charming — and a pathological liar. He wins admirers wherever he goes…so long as he never has to tell the truth! Misunderstandings, secret agendas, and witty wordplay abound in this delightfully ingenious and irreverent update of a classic French romp.

Rated PG — Some adult references may not be appropriate for young audiences.

By Sarah Ruhl
April 15 — 23
Nancy T. Hansen Theatre
Directed by Noelle Monroe

At what length would you go to save the one you love? This is the question Orpheus must answer in Sarah Ruhl’s adaptation on the ancient myth of Eurydice. Love and grief, life and death — these timeless themes are packed in the devastatingly lovely story of sacrifice and human connection. A quirky, contemporary reworking of a much–meditated upon story, Eurydice is equal parts modernist poetry, surrealistic art, and plenty of comedy to break the tension in this beautiful love story.

Rated PG — Themes of death and violence, may not be appropriate for young audiences.
