In collaboration with the West Lafayette Public Arts Team, Purdue Galleries presents a portrait project that looks at former Purdue students who have gone on to have an impact on popular culture in the U.S. The community is generally aware of the astronauts and athletes that attended Purdue, but this project highlights the actors, comedians, writers, cartoonists, punk rock icons, popcorn magnates, and even professional wrestlers that have also walked the West Lafayette campus.

These sixteen Purdue notable subjects have been have been selected for portrayal with new artworks from twelve local artists for this exhibition. The works will then be shown as public displays in West Lafayette for the Indiana bicentennial.

The Indiana Bicentennial Commission has awarded this Legacy Project status, in celebration of 200 years of Indiana statehood.
