Majoring in Industrial Design with a minor in Global Studies | School of Visual and Performing Arts

What is your dream job and what do you hope to do after graduation?

I want to be a user experience designer in a tech company and hopefully can be an entrepreneur in the future.

What have you participated in as a student?

I was vice president of IDSA Purdue chapter (Industrial Design Society of America) which is a student driven club for industrial designers. I enjoyed participating in events and leading workshops with fellow designers. This club allowed me to expand my knowledge of design and meet new friends.

How did you choose/decide on your major?

After I researched Purdue's industrial design website ( https://www.cla.purdue.edu/vpa/ad/industrial/Undergrad_Gallery.html), I decided to follow my heart and learn design. I would recommend going onto the Purdue Liberal Arts website to check all the majors out.

What are you most proud of?

I am proud of many things. If I had to choose the most recent one, I would say I am proud I had a co-op opportunity at GE Appliances in my junior year. Thanks to Purdue's industrial design program, I had the opportunity to participate in such a wonderful co-op program.

What are you most looking forward to as a student at Purdue?

I am most looking forward to meeting more awesome people and building a good network with students, professors, and alumni.

What is your favorite or most memorable Purdue tradition/memory?

I love the study abroad program in Purdue; I went to Cartagena, Colombia and Seoul, South Korea. I gained a lot of good memories with my Purdue study abroad groups. BGR (Boiler Gold Rush) is very fun too.

Which class have you taken (or are going to take) that you are most excited about and why?

I took an Interaction Design Studies (AD512) class. It is a graduate level class and I feel very lucky and grateful to be able to participate in this class. It set the stage for my future career choice. After I took this class, I figured out which areas of design I want to approach as a designer. From this class we learned how to design Apps, websites, and information visualization. This class also includes a project with Purdue Epics (https://engineering.purdue.edu/EPICS) and it gave me a chance to work with people in a different field.
