The following scholarships and awards are available if you are majoring in any of the majors in the School of Languages and Cultures. Please note that you are also eligible for any college-wide or university-level scholarships. (Note that a few awards, such as "Outstanding Senior," may be selected by faculty nomination, invitation to apply, or another process different from scholarships.)
Godeke Study Abroad Merit Scholarship
Merit-based scholarship for an outstanding undergraduate in Liberal Arts who plans to spend the academic year in one of the University's foreign language study abroad programs.

Lorraine K. Lawton Scholarship/Award
The Lorraine K. Lawton Award was established to honor her memory. She died in Iraq on July 10, 1991 during Desert Storm.
A scholarship based on merit for undergraduate students with a major or minor in the Italian division of the School of Languages and Cultures and participating in a study abroad program in Italy.

An award based on merit to provide a stipend for non-domestic graduate students enrolled in the School of Languages and Cultures and/or in the Comparative literature Program, to be awarded to recipients who are not otherwise financially supported by the University through an assistantship.

Spanish Study Abroad Scholarship
Spanish study abroad. 3.0 gpa in Spanish must have completed Spanish 301 by start of fall semester (for year-long program) and Spanish 302 by start of spring semester (for spring program). Application to School of Languages and Cultures in the College of Liberal Arts.

Job-Ready Internship Award
Job-Ready will bring students’ critical skills to organizations addressing important issues while providing students with hands-on work experience. Students whose internships are unpaid or low-paid may apply for financial support enabling them to cover basic costs incurred while interning. Job-Ready objectives will be: (1) To provide employers with access to CLA students’ unique skills; (2) To encourage CLA students to pursue summer internships and to make unpaid and low-paid internships a viable option for more students; and (3) To enrich CLA students’ understanding of relevant issues and opportunities to be a force for good in their lives after graduation.

An award for undergraduate students with a Liberal Arts major at Purdue University West Lafayette who have secured a career-launching unpaid or low-paid summer or semester internship and who will return to classes after their internship experience. On-campus internships are not eligible. Eligible internship sites include not-for-profit organizations, government, social enterprises, and for-profit firms. Job-Ready Awards do not support study abroad, field schools, or other internships that charge students to participate.

Elizabeth Boyd Thompson and G. R. Thompson Scholarship in Literature
Funded and established in 2014 by Thomas H. Scholl to honor Elizabeth Boyd Thompson and G. R. Thompson.
For an Indiana undergraduate student enrolled in the Department of English or the School of Languages and Cultures who will be a junior or senior during the upcoming school year, is majoring in literature, and has a GPA of at least 3.5/4.0. Preference for students who demonstrate a superior ability to write discursive prose; applicantion should include a rationale for majoring in literature (why you chose your major and how it will prepare you for your future).

Paul B. Dixon Scholarship ICM
One or more annual undergraduate scholarships for in-state students, as defined by the University, enrolled in the University's School of Languages and Cultures in the College of Liberals Arts. This is an Indiana Challenge Match scholarship.

The CLA French Study Abroad Scholarship
For students with a major or minor in French in good academic standing. Qualified applicants should be sophomores, juniors, or seniors at the time of study abroad who will be studying in one of Purdue's programs in a Francophone country. Scholarship selection preference is agiven to students in the following order: 1. Students who elect to spend a year abroad; 2. Students who elect to spend a semester abroad; 3. Students who elect to spend a summer abroad.

James Albert Evans Study Abroad Scholarship
The James Albert Evans Scholarship was established in June 2003 by his daughter, Nicole Evans-Greek, and others in memory of James Albert Evans, professor emeritus in the School of Languages and Cultures.
For students majoring in a Foreign Language. Students are chosen on the basis of academic merit, with a preference to eligible students who will study in France.

Linda C. Shackman Scholarship
The Linda C. Shackman scholarship provides financial assistance to a qualified undergraduate who is majoring in one of the languages offered in the School of Languages and Cultures.
For an undergraduate foreign language major who will be a sophomore, junior, or senior during the year for which the scholarship is awarded. A qualifying student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, be an Indiana resident, and be a graduate of a high school located in Indiana. In addition, preference will be given to a student who has an interest in pursuing a career in education.

Richard David Stutzke Study Abroad Scholarship
The Richard D. Stutzke Study Abroad Scholarship was established in January 2007, by Dr. Richard Stutzke (BS 1963, College of Science). The scholarship provides financial assistance to a qualified undergraduate German major (or dual degree student majoring in German) who plans to study abroad in a German-speaking country for at least one semester. Funds may also be used to support students taking part in other study-abroad and language development opportunities, such as Maymester programs in Germany or summer programs sponsored by the Goethe Institute.
For an undergraduate German major who plans to study abroad in a German-speaking country for at least one semester. Selection will be made by the German faculty on the basis of academic merit. A minimum gpa overall and in German courses is required.
