Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies

The Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program at Purdue University offers courses that critically assess the historical and social context attached to the categories of “man” and “woman,” as well as the importance of gender identities. Courses provide students with the opportunity to examine the role and politics of sexuality and to question the practices that put those who reject or fall outside of standard gender labels at a disadvantage. Students engage on issues central to feminism, promote equality for all people regardless of the way they express their gender or sexuality, and nurture academic research and scholarly inquiry.
