African American Courses
The African American Studies major requires 9 hours of foundational courses, such as Introduction to African American Studies, and 21 hours distributed across the Social Sciences, History, English, and Visual and Performing Arts.
The minor includes the 9 hours of foundational courses, but has only a 6-hour distribution requirement. Students may select from a wide range of interesting courses including African American Popular Culture, African American Sexuality and Society, Black Women Rising, Black Women Writers, The Black Male, Blacks in Hollywood Film, The Black Family, The Black Athlete and Research Methods in African American Studies.
