Department Head

The successful candidate will have an excellent record of research and teaching and a PhD in Political Science, Public Policy, or a related discipline. Desired qualifications include a record of attracting external funding, teaching excellence, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Candidates must have a record of research and publications suitable for an appointment as a full professor with tenure and should demonstrate leadership/administrative ability.

Duties include stewardship of the programmatic and intellectual agendas of the Department of Political Science; management of department resources; recruitment and retention of faculty, staff, and students; demonstration of a commitment to excellence in teaching; guidance of faculty working toward tenure and promotion; advocacy on behalf of the department’s mission; and representation of the department to administrative offices and on the Council of Department Heads.  Full Advertisement

Professor, area of expertise open

The successful candidate will have an excellent record of research and teaching in any subfield of political science. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to one or more of the department’s cross-cutting research areas in the politics of groups and identities; environmental politics and policy; and human security and political violence. Assistant Professor, administrative law and policy

The successful candidate will have an active research agenda and be able to teach administrative law and public policy classes to undergraduate and graduate students in political science and to contribute to an anticipated professional master’s program in public policy. We are especially interested in candidates who can teach administrative law and policy in one or more of the department’s cross-cutting research areas in the politics of groups and identities; environmental politics and policy; and human security and political violence. We also welcome applications from candidates who can teach constitutional law. Desired qualifications include the ability to attract external funding; the potential for teaching excellence; and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Assistant Professor, causal inference and/or policy analysis 

The successful candidate will have an active research agenda, be able to teach quantitative methods and policy analysis effectively to undergraduate and graduate students, and contribute to an anticipated professional MA program in public policy. The candidate will also have opportunities to teach in his or her substantive area of expertise. The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to one or more of our cross-cutting research areas in the politics of groups and identities; environmental politics and policy; and human security and political violence. Desired qualifications include interest in contributing to social science methodological training across campus; ability to attract external funding; potential for teaching excellence; and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
