Thank you for your interest in the Department of Political Science at Purdue University. To apply to the Political Science Graduate Program, please follow the guidelines listed below. This is the fastest, most accurate way to apply to Purdue.
When applying, the following items should be submitted through the Purdue University Graduate School website.
Statement of Purpose
Three letters of recommendation
Diversity Essay, required by department for full funding consideration
Official GRE/TOEFL scores: All students must take and submit results of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) (verbal, quantitative, and analytical). Students must receive a score of 160 or higher on the verbal section of the exam (600 or higher using the GRE recording metric from July 2011 or earlier).
Purdue's GRE code is 1631.
International students are required to submit scores for the internet-based TOEFL exam. For admission, applicants must have an overall score of 90 with minimums in each component of 20 (writing), 25 (speaking), 14 (listening), and 20 (reading).
If it is preferred, letters of recommendation may be submitted directly to the department. Official transcripts must be submitted directly to our graduate coordinator at the address below.
The application deadline for Fall admission is December 15, 2018.
