From the Dean

Dear Friends,

The fall semester is beginning, and there is electricity in the air. Faculty members are putting the final touches on their syllabi, new students are finding their class buildings with their maps—or their smart phone aps—and Frisbees are flying on the mall.

The summer brought the announcement of Purdue’s next president, the current governor of Indiana, Mitch Daniels.  The College of Liberal Arts is eager to work with incoming President Daniels to move Purdue to greater national and international stature.

It’s an exciting time to be a Boilermaker, and I invite you to return to campus to enjoy the energy on Homecoming Weekend, October 12 and 13.

I also encourage you to read about our newest recipients of the Emerging Voice Awards. These young alumni have distinguished themselves on the United States Olympic Committee, at Lockhead Martin Aeronatuics, and as the Consul General to the Republic of Cyprus.

I hope you enjoy reading about Purdue, and I value your feedback.

With best regards,
Bud's Signature

Irwin Weiser, Justin S. Morrill Dean of the College of Liberal Arts
