Please join me in congratulating Jay Gephart—Al G. Wright Chair and Director of Bands—on two significant honors.
Jay was selected by Phi Beta Mu (the international bandmasters fraternity) as their National Outstanding Bandmaster. Formal recognition of which will come during next year’s Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic.
He was also awarded the Al and Gladys Wright Distinguished Legacy Award by the National Band Association. Established in 2020, the award recognizes achievement in leadership, teaching, and/or professional experience, mentorship, and service to the band profession. No more than two awards may be presented in any given year.
