Please join me in congratulating Jonathan Lande, assistant professor of history, on the publication of his article, “The Black Badge of Courage: The Politics of Recording Black Union Army Service and the Militarization of Black History in the Civil War’s Aftermath” in the Journal of American Ethnic History.
The article examines African American activists, William Wells Brown and Frances Rollin, as they focus on historical writings of African American Leaders to provide narratives of Black soldiers during the Civil War.
