Sorin Matei
Please join me in congratulating Sorin Matei, professor of communication and associate dean of research and graduate education, for co-developing concepts that have been adopted by the Quantum Science Summer School to train quantum scientists in the art of public communication.
Leading a partnership with the Purdue Polytechnic Institute and Discovery Park, Sorin proposed an Engaged Science Communication online program and “Science Communication Shark Tank” competition to leaders at the Quantum Science Center for its NSF-funded summer school programming for graduate students and postdoctoral associates.
The “Shark Tank” competition is designed as a friendly way for participants to strengthen their storytelling skills while developing short, engaging presentations that tell their research stories. A panel of “sharks” – QSC leaders, industry partners, and quantum information science and technology (QIST) experts – will judge the presentations. Purdue will virtually host QSC summer school from May 17-21.
