Please join me in congratulating Melissa Remis, professor and head of anthropology, for winning the 2019-20 Violet Haas Award.
Purdue’s Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence presents the Violet Haas Award annually to recognize “individuals, programs or departments at Purdue that have effectively facilitated the advancement of women in hiring, promotion, education and salary, or have generally enhanced a positive professional climate for women at Purdue.” Provost Jay Akridge and Mangala Subramaniam, professor and director of the Butler Center, presented the award to Melissa on Tuesday at a virtual awards ceremony and reception. This was the 30th annual Violet Haas Award presentation.
