April Ginther
Please join me in congratulating April Ginther, Professor of English, on the publication of her new book, Local Language Testing: Design, Implementation, and Maintenance (Routledge, 2020).
This book lays out a blueprint for the development of local language assessments across educational contexts but especially those associated with higher education. Co-authored with Slobodanka Dimova at the University of Copenhagen and Xun Yan at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, two graduates of Purdue’s Second Language Studies (SLS) Ph.D. program, Local Language Testing highlights the authors' collective experience in developing and maintaining the local language tests in use at Purdue along with assessments developed for use at Copenhagen and Illinois. The volume provides guidelines, procedures, and techniques for the development of language assessments that can be employed by educators who are interested in developing reliable and valid instruments that represent their own local contexts and values.
