R. Douglas Hurt

Please join me in congratulating R. Douglas Hurt, professor of history, on the publication of his latest book, The Green Revolution in the Global South: Science, Politics, and Unintended Consequences (University of Alabama Press, 2020).

In examining the agricultural history of the Green Revolution and its push to increase agricultural production, Doug documented its impact on environments, economies, and human life. Author David Vaught commented, “This is an important book because it takes on a subject laden with emotion, ideology, myth, and distortion for more than half a century. It is crisply written, fast-paced and based upon thorough, carefully documented research and brings a fresh, balanced, much-needed, and much welcomed historical approach to the subject.”

Congratulations, Professor Hurt!
