David Johnson

Please join me in congratulating David Johnson, assistant professor of industrial engineering and political science, for serving as co-principal investigator on a project that was awarded $3 million to study the consequences of sustainability policies.

Distinguished Professor of Agricultural Economics Thomas Hertel leads the interdisciplinary team in the Global-to-Local Analysis of Systems Sustainability (GLASS) initiative, which identifies the links between global sustainability outcomes and local decision-making. David will work to identify agricultural practices that maintain a proper balance between production efficiency and sustainability.

The National Science Foundation awarded the group $2.5 million to develop tools to study sustainability policy decisions and their ramifications. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture contributed the remaining $500,000.

Congratulations, Dr. Johnson!
