Jay Gephart
Please join me in congratulating Jay Gephart, Al G. Wright Chair of Purdue Bands & Orchestras, for being recognized as Sagamore of the Wabash.
The State of Indiana describes the Sagamore of the Wabash as the highest honor that its governor bestows upon those who have rendered a distinguished service to the state or to the governor. President Mitch Daniels, Indiana’s governor from 2005-12, represented Gov. Eric Holcomb in presenting this honor to Jay at Sunday’s Bands & Orchestras Fall Awards Banquet.
Jay is the director of the Purdue “All-American” Marching Band and Purdue Wind Ensemble and has been Director of University Bands since 2006. A full professor since 2009, he is also coordinator of the concert band program. Jay joined the Purdue faculty in 1995 and served as the music director of the Purdue Symphony Orchestra from 1995-2006.
