Bradley Dilger
Please join me in congratulating Bradley Dilger, associate professor of English, for his role in winning a Digital Extension Grant from the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS).
The ACLS Digital Extension Grant program supports digitally based research projects in all disciplines of the humanities and humanities-related social sciences. Bradley’s team at the Corpus & Repository of Writing, or Crow, is one of the first writing research projects to be funded by ACLS.
The project, “Expanding the Corpus and Repository of Writing: An Archive of Multilingual Writing in English,” will run from July 2019 through December 2020, with the Crow researchers working to advance its reach in several ways. The ACLS awarded the Crow team with $149,633, with $51,061 going to Purdue researchers.
Alongside primary investigator Shelley Staples at the University of Arizona, Bradley is serving as Co-PI on the project. The team of scholars – a group that includes multiple Purdue Ph.D. candidates and undergraduate researchers – is working to expand the content, reach, and research options on the site, which is “the first web-based archive integrating a corpus of English texts produced by undergraduate, multilingual writers with a repository of resources used to write those texts.”
