John Sundquist

Please join me in congratulating John Sundquist, associate professor of German and linguistics and chair of German and Russian in the School of Languages and Cultures, for winning the Charles B. Murphy Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award.

The university’s highest undergraduate teaching honor, the Charles B. Murphy Award recognizes outstanding teaching in all phases of the university’s undergraduate instruction. Winners receive a $10,000 cash award and induction into Purdue’s Teaching Academy, which provides leadership for the improvement of undergraduate, graduate, and outreach teaching.

John’s research focuses on historical German linguistics with an emphasis on syntactic change. He teaches undergraduate courses in Germanic culture and literature and graduate-level courses in historical and applied linguistics. He was also a 2014-15 IMPACT teaching fellow.

John and the other Murphy Award winners will be recognized at an invitation-only luncheon on April 2.

Congratulations, Dr. Sundquist!
